IEEE Dues Change for e-Membership

The e-Membership program started as a pilot in 2011. The intent of the pilot was to test the impact of substantially reduced dues on membership recruitment and retention in countries where the per capita gross domestic product is US$15,000 or less. Data has shown that there was no significant increase on recruitment or retention during this period. Thus, a dues increase is necessary to make the program economically sustainable. The MGA Board approved an increase in dues for the e-Membership option this past June.

IEEE Day 2014, a Worldwide Success

IEEE Day 2014 was held on Tuesday, 7 October, the fifth time in history when engineers worldwide celebrated the anniversary of the first time IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884. While the world benefits from what's new, IEEE is focused on what’s next. Thus, this year's theme was "Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow." This year once again looked to IEEE members to partner with the IEEE Day Team in the role of ambassador. The response was overwhelming with over 100 active ambassadors compared to 35 in 2013.
