The BSICoS group (Biomedical Signal Interpretation and Computational Simulation) of the University of Zaragoza is looking for a PhD on signal processing and biomedical data. The work is part of a collaboration project with a multinational company in the automotive field, where the objective is the development of methods to quantify the state of the driver. The tasks of the position include the analysis and characterization of the physiological signal recorded in the vehicle, quantifying its quality and validating the biomarkers of interest that it provides.

Dr. Max Welling is a research chair in Machine Learning at the University of Amsterdam and a Distinguished Scientist at Microsoft Research (MSR). He is a fellow at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) and the European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) where he also serves on the founding board.

I was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1978. As a child, I enjoyed studying and learning new things. I loved Math and the way they can be used to explain almost everything, but I was not attracted to technology at all! I never envisioned myself as an Engineer, but rather thought I would study Medicine, or something related to taking care and healing people.
