Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have been the focus of much research over the past decade. However, the error floor phenomenon observed in MP decoding, which manifests itself as an abrupt change in the slope of the error-rate curve, has hindered the adoption of LDPC codes and MP decoders in some applications requiring very low error rates.

GlobalSIP is a new flagship conference launched by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) in 2013. The focus of GlobalSIP is on signal and information processing and up-and-coming signal processing themes. The conference is composed of multiple co-located symposia, each with its own poster track for paper presentations, and invited plenary talks. The poster sessions for all symposia are co-located and the plenary talks are aligned into two parallel oral tracks.
The first GlobalSIP conference will be held in Austin, Texas, from December 3-5, 2013.

High definition (HD) video contents become popular and displays of higher resolution such as ultra-definition are emerging in recent years. The conventional video coding standards offer excellent coding performance at lower bit-rates. However, their coding performance for HD video contents is not as efficient.
