The Wireless Innovation Laboratory (http://www.wireless.wpi.edu/) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position starting on 1st October 2012 to lead research efforts in the area of spectrally agile waveform design and development for dynamic spectrum access (DSA) networks.
A completed Ph.D. degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, as well as authorization for employment in the U.S., are both required.
This postdoctoral position is nine months in time duration with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess knowledge and experience in the following areas:
(1) Solid background in wireless communications theory, especially: multicarrier transceiver architectures (e.g., NC-OFDM), spectrally agile data transmission, dynamic spectrum access, multiple access techniques.
(2) Experience with the design and implementation of digital communication systems and digital signal processing algorithms on software-defined radio platforms.
(3) Familiarity with conducting performance evaluation of wireless communication systems in laboratory/field environments.
To apply for this position, please submit the following items via the WPI Human Resources (HR) website: (i) Vitae with complete list of publications, (ii) Names and contact information of three professional references, and (iii) A brief summary of previous/current research and future research interests. The WPI HR website is located at: http://wpi.peopleadmin.com/ (go to Search Postings and use Posting Number 0600507 to access this specific position).
Any questions regarding this position should be sent electronically to Professor Alexander Wyglinski (alexw@ECE.WPI.EDU) with the subject line Spectrally Agile Post-Doc Position. Note that application materials sent to this email address will not be reviewed.
Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
The Wireless Innovation Laboratory (WI Lab) was founded in August 2007 by its director, Professor Alexander M. Wyglinski, in order to advance the current state-of-the-art in technologies, techniques, and algorithms that can help further improve the utilization of radio frequency spectrum across a wide range of wireless applications. The WI Lab is housed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), one of the first engineering and technology universities established in the United States. The mission of the WI Lab is to devise novel approaches and systems for performing wireless transmission based on the dynamic spectrum access paradigm by using both software-defined and cognitive radio technology, as well as to educate future engineers and technologists in this emerging research area. The WI Lab is currently supported by several government and industrial sponsors, including the U.S. National Science Foundation, the U.S. Office of Naval Research, The MathWorks, and the Toyota InfoTechnology Center U.S.A.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
