The IEEE Awards Board seeks new volunteers to serve on its award selection committees and Awards Board standing committees to assist with managing the recipient nomination and selection process for IEEE Medals, Technical Field Awards, and Recognitions—the highest awards IEEE presents on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors.

The IEEE Awards Board administers the highest medals, awards, and recognitions presented by IEEE on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors. All IEEE members are encouraged to submit a nomination for a worthy candidate within their technical fields. Nominations are due 15 June annually for IEEE Medals and IEEE Recognitions.

(Arizona State University), “Graph-based Estimation of Information Divergence Functions” (2017) Advisor: Berisha, Visar and Spanias, Andreas Information divergence functions, such as the Kullback-Leibler divergence or the Hellinger distance, play a critical role in statistical signal processing and information theory; however estimating them can be challenge. Most often, parametric assumptions are made about the two distributions to estimate the divergence of interest.

Overview The Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has allocated $20,000 for Member-Driven Initiatives for the 2017 calendar year. The funding is open to all Signal Processing Society members, Chapters and Committees. However, all proposals must include the involvement of the local Chapter to encourage geographic development.
