Signal Processing Research Position at GE Global Research

The Advanced Communication Systems Lab is seeking individuals with practical signal processing research experience. You will make key contributions in original research and develop innovative products and solutions for the GE businesses including Aviation Systems, Energy, Healthcare and Water as well as US Government agencies such as DARPA, DoE and DHS.

Develop and apply new techniques for estimation, optimization, filtering, detection, and compressive sensing algorithms for communication, sensing, and control systems. Applications include RF and optical communications, video compression, time series data compression, biomedical data compression, stochastic systems, and sensor data fusion.

As a Signal Processing Researcher you will:

  • Grow and contribute to new research projects through close interactions with the GE Business units, US Government, and their customers.
  • Lead algorithm development and experimentation related to communications and sensing technology that includes background literature searches, modeling and simulation, prototype design, experimentation, and results analysis.
  • Present research findings and impact to business leadership and customers.
  • Collaborate with leading technologists in government agencies, industry and academia.
  • Present research at conferences, publish in leading journals, contribute to open source projects, and patent novel innovations.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (OR, a Masters degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with 3 years of relevant experience).
  • Demonstrated publication record.
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, development, prototyping and testing of communication, sensing, or control systems.
  • Proficient in Matlab and C/C++ programming or equivalent
  • Experience in leading research project teams with responsibility for schedule, budget, performance and deliverables
  • Due to the nature of the work done at GE Global Research, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
