For our June 2016 issue, we cover recent patents dealing with hardware and signal processing issues of medical imaging.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the sixth time in 2017. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services. The award will be presented annually in conjunction with the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to the Chapter’s representative. The award will consist of a certificate and a check in the amount of $1,000 to support local chapter activities.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Awards Board Chair. The term for the Awards Board Chair position will be three years (1 January 2017-31 December 2019).

Now IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form at the related TC section pages. To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and clicking on a particular TC. A link for the form can be found in the sidebar menu of the TC pages. Jobs can also be viewed from its individual TC pages or a combined listing that includes all TC jobs.

FAU is launching the new elite Master’s degree programme Advanced Signal Processing and Communications Engineering (ASC). The programme is being funded for five years by the Elite Network of Bavaria. All courses are to be taught in English. The ASC Master’s degree programme is intended for outstanding students with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of information and communication engineering.
