The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) announced the 2010 Class of Distinguished Lecturers.  Five colleagues were honored and they are: Sheila Hemami (Cornell University, NY); Shrikanth Narayanan (University of Southern California, CA); Antonio Oretga (University of Southern California, CA); Venu Veeravalli (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Il); and Abdelhak Zoubir (Darmstadt University of Technology, GERMANY).

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the Vice President- Awards & Membership Officer position for the term 1 January 2011 through 31 December 2013.

The EURASIP and the IEEE Signal Processing Society Greek Chapter jointly organized a full-day event in October 2009 at the University of Athens: the inaugural "Greek Signal Processing Jam''. The event was envisioned as an opportunity to bring this community together, attract new talent to signal processing, and expose all to some of the latest developments in the broad area.

John M. Cioffi and H. Vincent Poor have been elected International Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom, two of only three engineers worldwide to be so elected this year.  They were inducted into the Academy at its New Fellows Dinner on 9 November 2009, in London, UK.

from IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board The IEEE MGA Leadership Training Initiative Ad Hoc Committee is proud to announce the release of the Quick Start Training (for Geographic Unit Leaders), a new training program designed for Geographic Unit Officers in their first 30 days in office. Quick Start Training was developed to help new Officers more quickly understand the roles and responsibilities of their positions and begin the process of member engagement.

IEEE Signal Processing Denver Chapter has organized a number of recent events, providing members with technical talks and lectures and in the mean time offering networking opportunities. The chapter will be conducting the second annual competition for funding college senior projects that utilize signal processing concepts and techniques. In November 2009, the Chapter is calling for new officer nominations for 2010 and hosting a social gathering event.
