How Successful People Use Associations to Their Advantage
The years following graduation are often filled with change. Between finding – and starting – a new job, navigating professional relationships and growing your network, and potentially pursuing additional channels of education, it’s important to find a resource that will support your professional growth. In his recent interview with College Recruiter, Executive Director of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Rich Baseil made the case for joining associations, explaining how “joining associations helps broaden your knowledge beyond the classroom, and demonstrates to employers that you’ve taken the initiative to learn more about the field, have ready access to resources for continuous learning, and have connections with other professionals who can guide and assist you.” We couldn’t agree more. Associations provide built-in networks and we’re proud of the one SPS offers its members. As we look to spread the word on the impact of signal processing and the power of association membership, we encourage you to read Rich’s interview, pass it along to your colleagues and friends, and share on your social channels. And, if you haven’t already, make sure to visit our newly re-launched website to ensure you’re maximizing your SPS membership. When being part of an association, you get out of it what you put into it, so don’t be afraid to attend an event, seek out a mentor, or get more involved in your local chapter. The opportunities are endless.
