Announcing the winners of the 2016 Signal Processing Cup

This year SP Cup competition was on “Exploring Power Signatures for Location Forensics of Media Recordings”, to determine the location-of-recording by exploring a time-varying signature embedded in media recordings. This year 52 teams (around 334 students) registered for the SP Cup and 33 submitted their work. Three teams have been selected to participate in the final competition at ICASSP 2016.

vTools Release Announcement: eNotice Express

The MGA Information Management and vTools teams are very happy to announce the first release of IEEE eNotice Express. vTools.eNotice is an email distribution service, provided by MGA, that has been developed to send newsletters, meeting notices, social events, and IEEE conference materials to members on behalf of volunteers. Up until now, all eNotices required staff to process them, which could take up to 5 business days. eNotice Express removes the staff component and the wait time for delivery.

Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering: Signals and Systems

Position Description: The School of Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Electrical Engineering at the Assistant Professor or, for exceptional candidates, Associate Professor level for a Fall 2016 start date. The school is seeking outstanding individuals whose research focuses on signal processing, control systems, sensing and measurement, cyber-physical systems, or communication systems.

Scientist

The CMRE is looking for a scientist that will be responsible to support the Centre's role in an EU scientific project. This work will be done in close collaboration with the CMRE programme of work in Data Knowledge and Operational Effectiveness and the incumbent will also interact with the Research Department Head, and relevant Programme Managers and Project Leaders within CMRE on the overall coordination of the assigned tasks to other work within CMRE.

IEEE-USA Offers Free e-Books to Members in March and April

As a special benefit to IEEE members for the month of March, IEEE-USA E-Books will offer "Shaping an Engineering Career – Book 1: Responding to Career Challenges-A Personal Journey," by author Gerard H. (Gus) Gaynor. The "Shaping an Engineering Career" series documents the personal history of selected engineers and describes their journeys in transitioning from entry-level employees to technology professionals or managers. Book 1 is the personal journey of Gaynor. The e-book is available 1 March to 15 April.
