Finding footage of a crime caught on tape is an investigator's dream. But even with crystal clear, damning evidence, one critical question always remains–is the footage real? Today, one way to help authenticate footage is to identify the camera that the image was taken with.

Cyber security is an increasing worry on many fronts, but typical discussions and headlines focus on very different types of threats than those experienced by aviation and space systems. Cyber security vulnerabilities compromise the control, traffic, navigation, and integrity of these systems. Countermeasures involve not only specialized systems and architectures, but often international cooperation, as the need for awareness extends well beyond the boundaries of a single aircraft.

Alterations in brain development during infancy may precede the behavioral manifestation of developmental disorders. Infants at increased risk for autism are also at increased risk for other developmental disorders, including, quite commonly, language disorders. In this paper, the authors assess the extent to which electroencephalographic (EEG) signal differences in infants at high versus low familial risk for autism are present by 3 months of age, and elucidate the functional significance of EEG power at 3 months in predicting later development.

Google recently announced a new labeled dataset of human actions taking place in videos, named Atomic Visual Actions (AVA). It densely annotates 80 atomic visual actions in 57.6k movie clips with actions localized in space and time, resulting in 210k action labels with multiple labels per human occurring frequently. GlobalSIP is a conference of the IEEE Signal Processing Society conference that focuses on signal and information processing with an emphasis on up-and-coming signal processing themes.

A 4-year PhD position is available within a collaborative project between ESAT-STADIUS, Dept. Electrical Engineering and ExpORL, Dept. Neurosciences, KU Leuven, Belgium. The goal is to develop a neuro-steered hearing aid that will adapt its function according to brain responses measured using EEG. This position entails joint signal processing of EEG and audio signals.We are looking for someone with strong mathematical skills and some experience in algorithm design for multi-channel (array) signal processing (for EEG and/or audio).

Several post-doctoral fellow or PhD graduate research assistant positions are available immediately to work on the development of machine learning, image processing, statistical and signal processing approaches for the analysis and integration of genomic and medical imaging data.  More information about our research work at Multiscale Bioimaging and Bioinformatics Laboratory of Tulane Biomedical Engineering Department can be found at our website (http://www.tulane.edu/~wyp/).  The position will be funded by both NIH and NSF.
