An overview of solutions, challenges, and prospects
The deadline for the Regional Director-at-Large Regions 1-6 nominations noted in the below message has been extended to 20 April 2018. The nomination period for the other noted positions is considered closed. Submission details are noted below.
The Signal Processing for Communications and Navigation (SPCOMNAV) research group at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) seeks researchers to contribute to the activities on 5G and GNSS positioning in urban and vehicular environments (V2X), currently ongoing at the group. The researchers will benefit from the strong and intense links of SPCOMNAV with industry and European institutions, being involved in international research projects contributing to make a leap forward in the current state of the art.
special issue on "Acoustic source localization and tracking in dynamic real-life scenes" to be published in IEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Signal Processing.
The special issue aims to present recent advances in the development of signal processing methods for localization and tracking of acoustic sources and the associated theory and applications. To address the challenges raised by the real-life environment, novel methods that use modern array processing, speech processing and data inference tools, become a necessity.
Feeling the beat of music and then producing it, e.g. by foot-tapping, is an intrinsically real-time process. As listeners, we do not wait for the beat to occur before tapping our foot; instead we make predictions about when the next beat in the music will occur. Likewise, performing musicians have a shared sense of beat which is what allows them to play in time together.
Can you segment moving objects from image frames captured by car cameras? The 2018 CVPR workshop on autonomous driving (WAD) is hosting a challenge to enable autonomously driven vehicles to label instances of moving objects such as vehicles and pedestrians.
