IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. As a special benefit to IEEE members for the month of January, IEEE-USA E-Books will offer "The Best of IEEE-USA InSight: On Licensing Software Engineers." Author Dr. Phillip A. Laplante, CSDP, P.E. compiled this collection of 10 useful articles appearing in IEEE-USA InSight the past few years. The book examines the question of whether software engineers should be licensed in the United States. A hotly debated topic for more than 20 years, the controversy largely ended in 2013, when 30 states began offering licensure for software engineers.

IEEE Future Directions has launched the IEEE 5G Initiative and the corresponding IEEE 5G Technical Community to address the challenges associated with 5G and lay the foundation to realize its many opportunities.

Each year, the IEEE Board of Directors confers the grade of Fellow on up to one-tenth of one percent of the members. To qualify for consideration, an individual must have been a Member, normally for five years or more, and a Senior Member at the time for nomination to Fellow. The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in IEEE’s designated fields.

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is pleased to announce upcoming events and opportunities: International Leadership Conference (WIE ILC) Registration is open for the 2017 WIE ILC, taking place 22-23 May 2017, in San Jose, CA, USA. Attendees will have the opportunity to create communities that fuel innovation, facilitate knowledge sharing, and provide support through highly interactive sessions designed to foster discussion and collaboration.

The IEEE Awards Board administers the highest medals, awards, and recognitions presented by IEEE on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors. All IEEE members are encouraged to submit a nomination for a worthy candidate within their technical fields. Nominations are due 15 June annually for IEEE Medals and IEEE Recognitions.
