IEEE SPS 2013 Members-at-Large and Directors-at-Large Election Results

Three new Members-at-Large will take their seats on the Signal Processing Society Board of Governors beginning 1 January 2014 and will serve until 31 December 2016. The successful candidates are: Geert Leus, Helen Meng, and Fernando Pereira. Two new Regional Directors-at-Large, Douglas O’Shaughnessy and Hong-Yuan Mark Liao, will take their seats on the Signal Processing Society Board of Governors and Membership Board beginning 1 January 2014 and will serve until 31 December 2015.

Call for Nominations: Chapter of the Year Award (Deadline Oct 15)

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the third time in 2014. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services. The award will be presented annually in conjunction with the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to the Chapter’s representative.

Five colleagues were honored and they are: Maria Greco (University of Pisa); Alex Kot (School of EEE); Bhaskar Rao (University of California, San Diego); Andrew Singer (University of Illinois ); and Akihiko (Ken) Sugiyama (NEC Corporation).
