Election of Members-at-Large and Directors-at-Large of SPS Board of Governors

The election of Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2011 through 31 December 2013) and the new Directors-at-Large (term 1 January 2011 through 31 December 2012) of the IEEE SPS Board of Governors is now open. This year's election offers SPS members the opportunity to cast their votes via the web at https://eballot3.votenet.com/IEEE_SE. Ballots must be received at IEEE no later than 1 September 2010 in order to be counted.

Web-Based Query Tool Available For Gathering Membership Data

SAMIEEE is a web-based ad-hoc query tool that provides volunteers with the ability to gather useful information regarding their Chapter's membership data. It is available at this link. Predefined (prewritten) queries are provided and stored in folders in the system, making it easy to run and download data without having to recreate queries that are known "common" selections for Society officers (for example, counts of members, by grade, by region; list of current members, total, or by section or region, and so on.).

Call for Nominations: Technical Committee Vice Chair and Member Positions

The Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee for each Technical Committee is currently seeking nominations for new Members, as well as the Vice Chair position for some Technical Committees. Nominations for both positions should be submitted directly to each Technical Committee’s Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee. Nominations must be received no later than 15 August 2010.

IEEE Xplore Mobile Comes Out of Beta, New Features Added

IEEE announced the launch of IEEE Xplore Mobile, which incorporates enhancements based on user feedback collected from a beta test period that began in June 2009. IEEE Xplore Mobile gives users the ability to conveniently perform searches of over two million technical documents with any mobile device connected to the Internet. To try IEEE Xplore Mobile, go to http://m.ieeexplore.ieee.org. The new IEEE Xplore Mobile features represent upgrades from the initial beta version.
