News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
The Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee for each Technical Committee is currently seeking nominations for new Members, as well as the Vice Chair position for some Technical Committees. Nominations for both positions should be submitted directly to each Technical Committee’s Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee. Please provide the name, contact information and biography with the nomination. A general nomination deadline is set as 15 August 2010, but individual information on each Technical Committee’s nomination/election schedule can be found on their respective website (http://www.signalprocessingsociety.org/technical-committees/list/).
New member candidates can be self-nominated or nominated by Technical Committee members. Members will serve a term of three-years. Past Technical Committee members are eligible to be nominated for a second term. Current Technical Committee members may also be nominated for a second consecutive term, but are not eligible to vote in the new member election and can’t be part of the Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee for that election. Additional terms are allowed, but at least a 3 year gap in service is required. New members must be willing to review papers within the area of the Technical Committee, which are submitted to the Society’s conferences, review papers for workshops owned or co-owned by the Technical Committee, serve in the subcommittees established by the Technical Committee, and perform other duties as assigned.
Nominations for Vice Chair are restricted to individuals who are currently serving or have previously served as elected members of the Technical Committee. The Vice Chair position automatically succeeds to the position of Chair then Past Chair. The term for Vice Chair is two years.
Technical Committee members will be elected by the members of the Technical Committee itself based on the needs of the Technical Committee. The election results will be finalized by October.
