IEEE Policies Related to Election and Campaign Activities

With the IEEE Annual Election and several Society elections underway, a friendly reminder to review and adhere to the IEEE election campaign policies which apply to all IEEE elections.

If you are a candidate, please ensure that your activities are in compliance with both the letter and the spirit of the IEEE election campaign policies in IEEE Policies 13.3, 14.1 and 9.28.

These policies are also applicable to and must be adhered to by Societies/Councils and other Organizational Units that communicate or present information related to the election, or invite candidates to discuss their platform.

  • Section 13.3 Elections and Electioneering provides guidance for candidates, editors and conference organizers on campaigning guidelines and campaign-related communications. The same opportunity to participate and present must be provided to all candidates.
  • Section 14.1 Use and Control of IEEE Mailing Lists specifies that IEEE mailings lists may not be used by candidates for election for campaign purposes and explains the policies around circulation of candidate statements by IEEE Corporate Governance staff for the IEEE Annual Election.
  • Section 9.28 explains the use of social media.

The deadline to cast your vote for the IEEE Annual Election is 12:00 noon ET (16:00 UTC) on 1 October 2024. Deadlines for individual Society elections vary, and are listed in the far right column on the IEEE Annual Election webpage.
