Member Highlights: Prof. Tiago H. Falk
Prof. Tiago H. Falk received the BSc degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2002, and the MSc and PhD degrees from Queen’s University, Canada, in 2005 and 2008, respectively, all in electrical engineering. In 2007, he was a visiting Research Fellow at the Sound and Image Processing Lab, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, and in 2008 at the Quality and Usability Lab, Deutsche Telekom/TU Berlin, Germany.
Series to Highlight Women in Signal Processing: Dr. Raquel Bailón Luesma
I was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1978. As a child, I enjoyed studying and learning new things. I loved Math and the way they can be used to explain almost everything, but I was not attracted to technology at all! I never envisioned myself as an Engineer, but rather thought I would study Medicine, or something related to taking care and healing people.
Industry Leaders in Signal Processing and Machine Learning: Max Welling
Dr. Max Welling is a research chair in Machine Learning at the University of Amsterdam and a Distinguished Scientist at Microsoft Research (MSR). He is a fellow at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) and the European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) where he also serves on the founding board.
Job Opportunities in Signal Processing
IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and selecting a particular TC.
Get Involved with Technical Committees by becoming a TC Affiliate
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.
IFS TC Webinar: 8 December 2021, by Teddy Furon
Gujarat Chapter Receives the 2021 Chapter of the Year Award!
The IEEE Signal Processing Society Gujarat Chapter has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 Chapter of the Year Award!
SPS Webinar, 20 December 2021: Infinite-Dimensional Expansion for Sound Field Estimation with Application to Spatial Audio
Sound field estimation using a microphone array is a fundamental problem in acoustic signal processing, which has a wide variety of applications, such as visualization/auralization of an acoustic field, spatial audio reproduction using a loudspeaker array or headphones, and active noise cancellation in a spatial region.
Industry Leaders in Signal Processing and Machine Learning: Luna Dong
Dr. Luna Dong is ACM Distinguished Member for her contributions on knowledge integration and knowledge fusion, and the recipient of the VLDB Early Career Research Contribution Award for "Advancing the state of the art of knowledge fusion". The Knowledge-based Trust project she led at Google was called the “Google Truth Machine” by Washington’s Post.
Industry Leaders in Signal Processing and Machine Learning: Kush R. Varshney
Kush R. Varshney was born in Syracuse, NY in 1982. He received the B.S. degree (magna cum laude) in electrical and computer engineering with honors from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 2004. He received the S.M. degree in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree in 2010, both in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge.
