The Nominate a Senior Member Initiative was designed to encourage all IEEE Societies and Sections to become actively involved in promoting the Senior Member grade. This initiative aims to:

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Director-Membership Services. The term for the Director position will be three years (1 January 2013-31 December 2015). The Director-Membership Services is responsible for identifying value/benefit/services to members, as well as recommending policy/mechanism for recruiting members. The Director is a voting member of the Membership Board and a non-voting, ex-officio member of both the Conference and Publications Boards.

Narresh Vankayalapati (University of Rhode Island), “Direct position detection and localization of emitters using distributed sensors”, Advisor: Prof. Steven Kay, (2012) In this thesis, the author addressed the problem of passively gathering information about an emitter of electronic signals using distributed sensors. First, the author proposed an asymptotically optimal technique for detection of the presence or absence of such signals in the data collected at the distributed sensors. This is a centralized detector unlike the commonly used decentralized decision fusion techniques.

We are seeking one highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in computational neuroscience and signal processing to be part of an interdisciplinary research alliance working to develop computational models and data analysis methods in support of a research program in neuroergonomics (‘the study of the brain and body at work’).
