The Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee for each Technical Committee is currently seeking nominations for new Members, as well as the Vice Chair position for some Technical Committees. Nominations for both positions should be submitted directly to each Technical Committee’s Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is happy to announce that Prof. Jiebo Luo will be the new Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (T-MM). His three-year term will be from January 2020 to December 2022.

IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. In accordance with the Bylaws of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, I am writing to solicit nominations for the Awards Board and the Nominations and Appointments (N&A) Committee. This year, the Society will be filling THREE positions on the N&A Committee for the term 2020-21 and TWO positions on the Awards Board for the term 2020-2022.

IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) annual election will commence on 15 August, and your vote is more important than ever! Beginning this year, all eligible SPS Members will now vote for the next President-Elect (term 1 January 2020 through 31 December 2021), in addition to the Regional Directors-at-Large for Regions 7 & 9 and 10 (term 1 January 2020 through 31 December 2021), and Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2020 through 31 December 2022) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Governors (BoG).

Due to overwhelming interest in Member Driven Initiative funding, the IEEE Signal Processing Society has changed its process for submitting proposals through the program. This includes proposals for Forums, Regional Meetings, and Chapter Driven Initiatives.

It is my pleasure to share my views for the Signal Processing Society (SPS) Chapters’ best practices. Before I begin, I want to describe my own personal experience as a volunteer. I started my journey as a Treasurer (2013-14) and then as the Chairman (2015-16) for SPS Chapter, Gujarat Section (GS).
