Dr. Sanjit Mitra Elected to the Engineering Academy of Japan
Dr. Sanjit K. Mitra, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of California, Santa Barbara, has been elected recently to the Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ) as a foreign associate. EAJ is composed of leading experts from academia, industry, and government institutions who possess a wide range of knowledge and have made outstanding contributions in engineering and technological sciences, and closely related fields...
IEEE SPS SAM TC Webinar: 31 March 2022, by Dr. Robert W. Heath, Jr.
MIMO communication remains an important technology for wireless communication systems. In this tutorial, we revisit classical signal processing models for MIMO wireless communications. We consider how those models may be updated as MIMO systems go to higher carrier frequencies, broader bandwidths and new kinds of array architectures.
Call for Nominations: IEEE TMM 2022 Multimedia Prize Paper Award
The 2022 Multimedia Prize Paper Award Nomination Period is Open. Any paper published in T-MM in 2019, 2020 or 2021 is eligible. Judging shall be on the bases of originality, subject matter, timeliness, potential impact, and presentation quality.
New SPS Chapters in 2021
The IEEE Signal Processing Society is happy to announce the addition of twenty-three new Chapters formed in 2021. We welcome the new SPS Chapters and wish them great success in their future activities and events.
Get Involved with Technical Committees by becoming a TC Affiliate
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.
Job Opportunities in Signal Processing
IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and selecting a particular TC.
Series to Highlight Women in Signal Processing: Prof. Gloria Menegaz
Gloria Menegaz is a professor of bioengineering in the Department of Computer Science, University of Verona, Italy where she leads the Neuroimaging Lab. She serves as an associate editor of IEEE Signal Processing Letters and EURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, and she was a guest editor of Journal of Display Technology.
IEEE SPS SAM TC Webinar: 24 February 2022, by Dr. Sundeep Prabhakar Chepuri
Millimeter wave (mmWave) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems have become very popular for sensing and wireless communications beyond 5G. While the abundant spectrum available at the mmWave frequency bands enables higher cellular data rates and precise positioning, links at mmWave frequencies are very sensitive to blockages and have significantly higher path loss.
Events of the Student Branch Chapter: Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad
In the year 2021 SPS StB Chapter of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, conducted many events to date and a few are in the pipeline. It has conducted 3 executive committee meetings in hybrid mode and two hands-on-demo ac co-organizers on 2D and 3D CNNs for Face Recognition by Dr. Satish Kumar Singh and Mr. Nayaneesh Mishra on December 6, 2021.
