With the goal of turning data into information, and information into insight, the Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology (SCET), in association with IEEE SPS SCET Student Branch Chapter, Gujarat Section and IEEE SCET Student Branch organized a National Level Project Competition on Data Science Challenge 1.0 (DSC 1.0). The event was held on 28 and 29 January 2022. There were a total of 27 teams registered for the event from all over the country.  The teams were given four contemporary problems to choose from, which were: 1) Forecasting Problem, 2) Biomedical Signal Classification, 3) Optical Character Recognition, and 4) Digital Image Security.

In the qualifying round, the teams were given problem statements based on Data Science and they were required to produce the output and submit the video clip of it, online. Based on the evaluation of jury members, 50% of the teams qualified for the next round. In this round, on 28 January 2022, particularly detailed problem statements including data-sets were provided to the qualified teams and they were informed to code it in a fixed six hours duration window.  On 29 January 2022, the qualified teams presented their (coding) work. Four jury members were invited to adjudicate the teams and declare the winners.
