The IEEE Signal Processing Society and Google are pleased to announce that public registration for the inaugural International Symposium on Synthetic Media Attribution and Detection (ISSMAD) 2026 will officially open on July 1st, 2026.

Building on the foundation of previous collaborative efforts, ISSMAD 2026 serves as a critical convening point for global signal processing experts, academics, and industry leaders. As generative AI continues to evolve, this symposium addresses the urgent technical challenges of media authenticity and the architectures required to maintain digital trust in a synthetic world.

The two-day event will feature deep dives into emerging fields including:

  • Synthetic media detection and generative AI forensics.
  • Media attribution and provenance frameworks, such as C2PA.
  • Digital watermarking and proactive content integrity measures.

The symposium will feature insights from leading industry professionals and world-renowned experts in the field, including: Pei Cao (Google), Edward Delp (Purdue University), Anderson Rocha (University of Campinas), Rita Singh (Carnegie Mellon University), and Paolo Bestagini (Politecnico di Milano).

  • Event Name: International Symposium on Synthetic Media Attribution and Detection (ISSMAD) 2026

  • Dates: August 20–21, 2026

  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA (San Francisco Bay Area), USA

  • Hosts: Google and the IEEE Signal Processing Society

  • Registration: Open July 1, 2026 (No fee), Closes August 1, 2026

Please note that the call for presentations and posters is now closed. We would like to thank all researchers and practitioners who submitted their work to help shape this year's technical program.
