IEEE Signal Processing Society participates in NextBC 2 Showcase and Awards Gala

On 21 May 2015, volunteers from the IEEE Signal Processing Society participated in NextBC 2 Showcase and Awards Gala in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

More than 400 tech and creative leaders, innovators, and visionaries gathered at Telus World of Science in BC for an evening of networking, award presentations, and a panel discussion.

Hosted by The Digital Media and Wireless Association of BC (DigiBC), NextBC connects BC’s top tech, digital, creative, and business professionals to present and celebrate the province’s vibrant and diverse industrial community.

Attendees got to see, firsthand, the future of BC’s tech sector as companies presented their latest innovations during a booth and networking session at the beginning of the evening. Startups and growth companies were able to share their work with digital leaders and tech entrepreneurs at the heart of the local industry.

An awards presentation followed in the Omnimax theater. Hosted by local comedian and radio personality Patrick Maliha, the awards ceremony honored five companies in five categories. The winners were as follows:

Most Innovative Startup: Adrroit Technologies
Most Innovative Entertainment Company: QuestUpon
Most Innovative Digital Media Company: Tradable Bits
Most Innovative Business Solution: Eventbase
Most Disruptive Innovation: H+ Technologies

The five winners then participated in an interactive panel discussion, during which the judges asked a series of questions to determine the winner of the Most Innovative Company of the Year Award. Congratulations to H+ Technologies, who won that honor!

It was a wildly successful and inspiring event. Our SPS volunteers were thrilled to be among such great minds thinking forward and head to the future of technology and engineering.
