Call for Nominations: Industry Board

Ahmed Tewfik

Ahmed Tewfik
SPS Past President and Chair, Nominations and Appointments Committee

Earlier this year, the Signal Processing Society Board of Governors approved the formation of the SPS Industry Board. The Industry Board reports directly to the Board of Governors, ensuring that an industry perspective is reflected in all society operations, including technical directions, conferences, publications, membership, education, and awards. The desired outcome is the growth of industry participation, membership, partnership, and sponsorship for the Society.

The SPS Industry Board will officially begin activity on 1 January 2025, and we are seeking nominations to fill three Industry Board Member-at-Large positions, the term length being three years, renewable once. However, to ensure the roster has a staggered term structure, one elected Member-at-Large will serve a one-year term, one Member-at-Large will serve a two-year term, and one Member-at-Large will serve a three-year term. The final term length of the elected Industry Board Members-at-Large will be determined after the conclusion of the election. Priority will be given to industry engineering leaders and innovators.

Nominations for the Industry Board Member-at-Large position must be submitted through the online nomination system. The following information is required for each nomination: candidate name, IEEE Region, IEEE member number and grade, Cluster number and technical area, nominator statement of support, and candidate’s brief biography including information about current SP, IEEE, or other Society volunteer activities.

Manage Collaborators on Nomination: There is a Manage Collaborators button in the top right corner of the nomination page. The Primary Collaborator, who is the person who started the nomination, can add additional collaborators to the nomination by clicking the Add Collaborator button. Once a Collaborator is added, the application can be transferred to a new Primary Collaborator by clicking Make Primary next to the name. Access can also be removed from a collaborator by clicking Remove Access next to the name. Only the Primary Collaborator can submit or finalize the application, as well as add other Collaborators. All Collaborators can view and edit the application. However, only one user can be editing the nomination at a time to avoid accidental overwriting of another's information.

Nominations must be received no later than Friday, 20 September 2024
