The Speech and Language Technology Committee (SLTC) invites proposals from teams interested in organizing the IEEE International Conference on Audio, Speech, and Language Intelligence (ASLI) 2028 in Singapore. This is the second edition of the brand-new flagship conference of IEEE ASLI and the first open call for organizing team.
Unlike previous SLTC workshops (ASRU, SLT) calls, this is not a call to host the conference venue. IEEE ASLI 2028 will be co-located with the 2028 IEEE Signal Processing Summit (SP Summit), with the venue, conference dates, and local arrangements predetermined.
- Conference: IEEE ASLI 2028
- Location: Singapore
- Tentative Dates: Nov-Dec 2028 - dates finalized later this year
- Co-located with: 2028 IEEE Signal Processing Summit
The TC will select the top team to work closely with the 2028 IEEE SP Summit Organizing Committee to deliver ASLI 2028 as a single proposal to the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Conferences Board for final approval.
Interested Organizers should review & become familiar with SPS Conference Organizer Guidelines.
Scope of the Proposal
Since venue logistics and financial management will be coordinated jointly with the IEEE SP Summit 2028, proposals should primarily focus on the technical vision and organizational plan for ASLI 2028.
The organizing team is expected to develop a vibrant, forward-looking conference program that reflects the rapid evolution of audio, speech, language, and multimodal intelligence.
Proposals are encouraged to describe:
- An overall vision and theme for IEEE ASLI 2028.
- The proposed organizing committee, including General Chairs, Technical Program Chairs, and other key leadership roles.
- A strategy for building a high-quality and community-growing technical program and initiatives.
Plans for keynote speakers, panels, tutorials, workshops, challenges, demonstrations, industry engagement, and other special activities.
Approaches for fostering participation from academia, industry, startups, and government laboratories.
Plans to promote diversity, inclusion, and participation from early-career researchers and students.
- Ideas for interactions and synergies with other activities taking place during the IEEE Signal Processing Summit.
Financial and Local Arrangements
Financial planning, registration, venue operations, and local logistics will be coordinated jointly with the IEEE Signal Processing Summit Organizing Committee under a unified conference budget. Consequently, a detailed financial proposal is not required as part of this call.
The selected ASLI organizing team agrees to collaborate closely with the SP Summit organizers to ensure successful coordination of all conference activities.
Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Strength and originality of the technical vision.
- Experience and diversity of the proposed organizing team.
- Ability to deliver a high-quality international conference program.
- Innovation in technical activities and community engagement.
- Potential to enhance the impact and visibility of IEEE ASLI.
