Published in TC News on 1 November 2016 by Izhak Shafran and Andrew Rosenberg (Reposted from the SLTC Newsletter)
Welcome to the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee's Newsletter! This fall issue of the newsletter features the second installment of our new column, "Getting to Know Your Fellow Researchers", starring Geoffery Zweig, who is a Manager of the Speech and Dialog research Group at Microsoft.
For those who missed the recently concluded Interspeech conference or dozed off in the sessions, Matt Shannon has contributed his highlights.
In other news, you may have heard that the 2016 IEEE SLT workshop fell victim to Zika virus. To allay the fears of attendees, the venue has been moved from San Juan, Puerto Rico to San Diego, the adopted home of late Dr Suess. The online registration has opened. For more details, see the link below.
This newsletter is an ideal forum for updates, reports, announcements and editorials which don't fit well with traditional journals. We welcome your contributions, as well as calls for papers, job announcements, comments and suggestions. You can submit job postings here, and contact the TC via this form, or send mail to speechnewseds@listserv.ieee.orgto propose articles.
