The IEEE Biometrics Council is proud to announce that the Spring 2014 edition of its newsletter is now available. It contains a number of updates on biometric conferences/workshops and other IEEE activities related to biometrics. Namely, this edition of the newsletter contains:

• an interview of Ali M. Al-Khouri (Director General Emirates Identity Authority, UAE) who discusses the Emirates ID program;
• a short article entitled “Segmentation and Enhancement of Latent Fingerprints: A Coarse to Fine Ridge Structure Dictionary” authored by Kai Cao, Eryun Liu, and Anil K. Jain;
