The 37th IEEE Data Compression Conference (DCC) will bring together researchers, engineers, and industry practitioners from around the world for four days of technical exchange on data-compression technologies. The workshop will take place in Snowbird, Utah, from March 23 through 28, 2027, with The Cliff Lodge serving as the conference venue.

DCC has long been one of the IEEE Signal Processing Society’s key forums for emerging methods and applications in data compression, and DCC 2027 will continue that tradition with a program designed to highlight both foundational advances and practical impact across academia and industry. The technical program is organized around several core themes that reflect the evolving landscape of the field, including: compression of specific types of data (text, images, video, etc.); compression in networking, communications, and storage; applications to bioinformatics, mobile computing, and information retrieval; computational issues for compression-related applications; inpainting-based compression; perceptual coding; compressed data structures; quantization theory and vector quantization (VQ); joint source-channel coding; and compression-related standards. The program reflects both the rapid methodological advances in the field and their increasing importance across real-world systems and industry applications. The conference will also include a keynote as well as special sessions intended to expose attendees to fast-moving topics and cross-disciplinary opportunities. As the keynote, Dr. Mathias Wien of RWTH Aachen University talks about work toward the next-generation video-coding standard. Special sessions include “Gaussian Splatting Compression” and “Video Coding and Quality Optimization.”

DCC 2027 is led by Conference Co-Chairs Ali Bilgin and James E. Fowler, supported by an international organizing committee overseeing the technical program, keynotes, publications, finance, and publicity. For prospective authors, the paper submission portal will open shortly, and the paper submission deadline is October 2, 2026, 11:59pm U.S. Pacific Time. Accepted and presented papers will be published in IEEE Xplore.

DCC 2027 aims to provide an energizing environment for exploring new algorithms, real-world systems, and the expanding role of data compression across modern signal processing. Additional information is available on the official conference website, https://datacompressioncoonference.org/
