As a special benefit to IEEE members for the month of March, IEEE-USA E-Books will offer "Shaping an Engineering Career – Book 1: Responding to Career Challenges-A Personal Journey," by author Gerard H. (Gus) Gaynor. The "Shaping an Engineering Career" series documents the personal history of selected engineers and describes their journeys in transitioning from entry-level employees to technology professionals or managers. Book 1 is the personal journey of Gaynor. The e-book is available 1 March to 15 April.

As part of the IEEE international community, members have access to the IEEE International Insurance Marketplace, where they can research options that will be right for themselves and their families. At this time, IEEE Member Life Insurance, underwritten by Lloyds of London, is available to IEEE members in more than 60 countries, and many other essential insurance plans are available to members who are living outside their native countries as expatriates. IEEE Section Chairs and Section Membership Development Chairs receive a monthly email notification regarding newly joined members in your Section. The current list of new members (those who joined in the past 30 days) is available through SAMIEEE, your volunteer analytics tool. The report provides member contact information: name, mailing address, email address, phone number, type of membership (traditional, e-membership), Societies joined, grade, and reasons for joining IEEE.

Google is offering an online course on deep learning for free. The course is available through Udacity, a for-profit educational organization offering massive open online courses (MOOCs). It is estimated to take about three months to complete and assumes basic machine learning knowledge as prerequisite.

Modern phased array technology brings together diverse disciplines throughout the electrical engineering community, covering not only radio-frequency (RF)/microwave engineering. The special issue of Proceedings of the IEEE provides an overview on phased array technology including new applications in a diversity of disciplines.

The Summer School on Robust Signal Processing is organized by the Signal Processing Group at Technische Universität Darmstadt. We invite Ph.D. students, early career researchers and engineering practitioners to participate in the Summer School, what promises to be a unique event run by world-class experts.
