A massive amount of data from video sensors is collected by military forces in their operational theaters, and there aren’t enough analysts or time available to review. Reducing the amount of data or the number of sensors isn’t the answer, and there will never be enough analysts.

Many people share a common dislike for networking. However, you don't have to be a master at networking or have a "Type A" personality to succeed. All it takes is a little planning and some strategy, and after all, isn't that what engineers do best?

Mobile media search is a topic that has enjoyed rapid growth in consumer demand and hence receives a lot of attention from content providers and device manufacturers.

Following the rapid proliferation of mobile devices, especially smart phones, both server-based and embedded speech and multimodal applications started to emerge.

The World Engineering Convention (WEC), 4-8 Sept. 2011, will bring engineers, policy-makers, researchers and industry leaders from around the globe to Geneva, Switzerland around the theme “Engineers Power the World:  Facing The Global Energy Challenge.”

The Membership Board is delighted to introduce the Seasonal Schools in Signal Processing (S3P) Program in the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). This program was established in 2010 as an outcome of the SPS Long Range Planning Retreat held during ICIP 2010 in Hong Kong. S3P seasonal schools are typically either Summer schools or Winter schools, and are geared towards providing graduate students, early stage researchers, and practitioners with background on selected topics in signal processing.
