News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

September 2023

ME-UYR is under way! We are currently looking for students and mentors who are interested in participating in this mentoring experience. Please find more information in the Call for Student participants and the Call for Mentors.

All throughout June, IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapters and Student Branch Chapters from around the world gathered to celebrate the inaugural SPS Day! Established this year in conjunction with the Society’s 75th anniversary, SPS Day will be celebrated every 2 June to commemorate SPS’s establishment on that date in 1948.

IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form related to a particular TC field. To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and selecting a particular TC.

Everyone is different. But some differences are accepted and fall within the “norm” while other types of “different” result in the person having less access to resources, education, even happiness, or end up with them being bullied or worse. Acceptance of diversity is not only important from an individual perspective, it is also crucial to advance science and technology.

The Signal Processing Society (SPS) conducts webinars presented by professionals in the field of signal processing and related technologies on an ongoing basis. Webinars are also hosted periodically by SPS Technical Committees, and other network of communities. Visit the Upcoming Events page to see a list of our upcoming webinars and join us! Visit theSPS BLOG for more related content on a regular basis!

The Mentoring Experiences for Underrepresented Young Researchers (ME-UYR) is a mentoring program financed by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). ME-UYR helps you to establish a connection with a mentor at another university.

In accordance with the Bylaws of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, I am writing to solicit nominations for the Awards Board and the Nominations and Appointments (N&A) Committee. This year, the Society will be filling THREE positions on the N&A Committee for the term 2024-2025 and TWO positions on the Awards Board for the term 2024-2026. Nominations must be received no later than Friday, 22 September 2023.

It is my pleasure to announce that the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) annual election will commence on 15 August, and your vote is more important than ever! This year, all eligible SPS Members will vote for the next President-Elect (term 1 January 2024 through 31 December 2025), in addition to the Regional Directors-at-Large for Regions 7 & 9 and 10 (term 1 January 2024 through 31 December 2025), and Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2024 through 31 December 2026) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Governors (BoG).

The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 Technical Committees that support a broad selection of signal processing-related activities defined by the scope of the Society.
