Call for Papers: IEEE JSTSP Special Series on AI in Signal & Data Science - Toward Large Language Model (LLM) Theory and Applications
To address rapidly growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for signal processing and data science, the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has launched a new special series on AI in Signal & Data Science, to be published within the IEEE Journal on Selected Topic in Signal Processing (JSTSP).
Member Highlight: Prof. Néstor Becerra Yoma
Néstor Becerra Yoma was born in Santiago, Chile. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, UK, and his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in electrical engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. He is a full professor at the University of Chile. He started the Speech Processing and Transmission Laboratory, where he has investigated artificial intelligence and signal processing applied to multidisciplinary topics.
Call for Nominations: Call for Nominations: Awards Board and Nominations & Appointments Committee
In accordance with the Bylaws of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, I am writing to solicit nominations for the Awards Board and the Nominations and Appointments (N&A) Committee. This year, the Society will be filling TWO positions on the N&A Committee for the term 2025-2026 and TWO positions on the Awards Board for the term 2025-2027.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the 14th time in 2025!
Industry Leader in Signal Processing and Machine Learning: Dr. Celia Cintas
Dr. Celia Cintas is a Research Scientist at IBM Research Africa - Nairobi. She is a member of the AI Science team at the Kenya Lab. Her current research focuses on the improvement of ML techniques to address challenges on Global Health in developing countries and exploring subset scanning for anomaly detection under generative models.
IEEE Policies Related to Election and Campaign Activities

Member Highlight: Dr. Lina Jamil Karam
Dr. Lina J. Karam is an Emerita Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University and Director of the R&D Image, Video & Usability (IVU) Lab. She is currently Chief Technical Advisor at AIAEC and expert consultant for various industries and firms in the areas of signal processing, computer vision, AI/machine learning, image and video processing and compression.

2024 Election of Regional Directors-at-Large and Members-at-Large
It is my pleasure to announce that the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) annual election will commence on 15 August, and your vote is more important than ever! This year, all eligible SPS Members will vote for the Regional Directors-at-Large for Regions 1-6 and 8 (term 1 January 2025 through 31 December 2026), and Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2025 through 31 December 2027) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Governors (BoG).
