Technical Committee

Awards

Award Committee Members

  • Chair: Chia-Wen Lin
  • Members: Fengqing Maggie Zhu, Giuseppe Valenzise, Guo-Jun Qi

One of the major duties of our TC is to send endorsed nominations to the SPS Awards Board for annual Paper and Major Awards.  The Awards Subcommittee does not originate these nominations, but rather calls for nominations from the TC membership (and other sources), sends slates of candidates to the TC membership for voting, collects votes, determines the winners, and forwards the endorsed nominations (at most one in each category) to the SPS Awards Board on behalf of the TC.

Paper Awards

  • Best Paper Award
  • Young Author Best Paper Award
  • SP Magazine Best Paper Award
  • SP Magazine Best Column Award

Anyone (inside or outside the TC) can nominate papers in any of the following publications:

  • Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing

  • Transactions on Image Processing

  • Transactions on Information Forensics and Security

  • Transactions on Signal Processing

  • Signal Processing Magazine

Unfortunately, only papers appearing in one of the SP Society's solely owned Transactions (or SP Magazine) can be nominated, which rules out the IEEE Transactions on Multimedia.  The Best Paper Award can be for any Transactions paper appearing in the previous 5 calendar years, the Young Author Best Paper Award (for authors under 30 at time of submission) can be for any Transactions paper appearing in the previous 3 calendar years, and the SP Magazine Award can be for any Magazine paper appearing before ICASSP of the current year.
