Women in Signal Processing
Committee and Subcommittee Members

Women in Signal Processing page image

Scope: The Women in Signal Processing Committee shall report to the Membership Board. The Women in Signal Processing Committee shall identify value/benefit/services to women members and recommend policy/mechanism for recruiting women members; develop programs and material to facilitate women member recruiting and services; maintain and develop contacts with leadership and membership constituents; and provide proper communication channels and feedback. The Women in Signal Processing Committee shall be responsible for identifying, vetting and submitting women candidates for award and board/committee nominations. The Women in Signal Processing Committee should work with the Technical Committees to create a liaison position within each of the Technical Committees to help support their efforts.

Diversity and Inclusion-Benefits and Services Subcommittee

Scope: To identify the needs of SPS women and key underrepresented members across all demographics (race, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.). Regularly evaluate and tailor society programs, benefits, and services for these audiences.

2022-2023 Goals

1. Development of a WISP program for academic and industry representatives in Chapters.

2. Coordinate with related Membership Subcommittees with the develop of Webinars and Workshops in local languages.

3. Identify and provide a platform that encourages participation from underrepresented and remotely located individuals.

Industry-Academia Engagement and Education Subcommittee

Scope: To identify the needs of SPS women and key underrepresented members in industry and develop industry focused activities and programs, outreach efforts, and engagement opportunities. Support the connection between women and key underrepresented members in Industry and Academia. Provide support to the Education Board on their educational activities.

2022-2023 Goals

1. Development of a proposal for the Industry-Academia Conclave Program and present to the Membership Board for approval. Development of an implementation plan for the Industry-Academia Conclave Program.

2. Development of a proposal for Industry Scholarship: For example, IBM Z, Huawei and present to the Membership Board for approval. Development of an implementation plan for the Industry Scholarship.

3. Connect with the Education Board and determine how the subcommittee can support their activities or develop new educational activities geared towards women and underrepresented members.
