2021 Regional Meeting on Deep Learning and Biomedical Signals

On 14 May 2021, G. Renu opened the inaugural 2021 Regional Meeting on Deep Learning and Biomedical Signals with a welcome address and the opening curtain and lamp lighting ceremony was conducted by Mr. Deepak Mathur, Director, IEEE Region 10.  Prof. Sangeetha Singh, Deputy Advisor, IEEE Vardhaman College of Engineering (VCE) Student Branch Chapter, provided an overview of the program and Dr. M. A. Jabbar addressed the attendees.

Following the opening ceremony, the day consisted of the following program:

• Dr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor, provided a talk on “Deep Learning Based Sentiment Analysis of COVID-19 Tweets”
• Kahoot quiz was conducted by Mr. M Sai Prashanth, IEEE VCE Chair
• Gabriella Casalino, Assistant Professor, University of Bari Aldo Moro, “A m- Health Solution for Contact-Less Self-Monitoring of Vital Signs Parameters”  
• Dr. K.V.S.Hari, Professor and IEEE SPS Vice President-Membership provided a presentation on IEEE SPS Membership Development and SPS Benefits and Chapter Initiatives
• Group Discussion Competition Topics: "Deep Learning and Its Application in Biomedical Signal Industry”, "Deep Learning Applications in Image Sensing and Signal Processing", and "Biomedical Signals and its Application."

On 15 May 2021, the program consisted of the following sessions:

• Prof. Celia Shahnaz, Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section, “Signal Processing and Deep learning for Biomedical Applications”
• Dr. Shaikh Fattah, “Biomedical Image Processing Using Deep Learning for Automation Using COVID-19 Detection”
• Dr. Anubha Gupta Professor, Infosys Centre of AI, IIIT Delhi, “CNNs in Cancer Imaging”
• Prof. Supavadee Aramvith, Head, Multimedia Data Analytics and Processing Research Unit, Chulalongkom University, IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor, “Deep Learning: Applications in Video Analytics.”

On 16 May 2021, the program consisted of the following sessions:

• Dr. Chaitanya Kanchibhotla, Principal R&D Engineer, OpenSystems Inc., “Practical Applications of Deep Learning in Oil and Gas Domain”
• Mr. Pruthvi Raj Venkatesh, “Azure and ML in Oil and Gas Industry”
• Dr. Shankru Guggari, Data Engineer at Query Data Systems, “Introduction to Deep Learning Techniques”
• Kahoot quiz was conducted by Mr. M Sai Prashanth, IEEE VCE Chair.

At the conclusion of day three, a Closing Ceremony was conducted with the following eminent guests: Dr. Jennifer Dela Cruz, Chair of IEEE R10 Student Activities Committee and David Koehler, IEEE Vice President-Elect, Member and Geographical Activities (MGA), MGA N&A Committee Chair, and MGA Operations Committee Chair shared their views and addressed the attendees. Ultimately, the Closing Ceremony was ended after a vote of thanks by Mr. M Sai Prashanth, Chair of IEEE Vardhaman College of Engineering Student Branch Chapter.
