10 years of news and resources for members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

Conference News

IEEE Thematic Meetings in Signal Processing (THEMES) is a recent joint initiative by the Conference Board and Publication Board of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.  The inaugural THEMES event was held in March 2010 as a one-day event collocated with ICASSP 2010 in Dallas, Texas. The THEMES 2011 will be held on 22 May 2011 in Prague, Czech Republic, at the Prague Congress Centre. The Steering Committee for THEMES is inviting proposal for the THEMES 2011.

The 35th IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) was held in Dallas, Texas on 14-19 March 2010. ICASSP is the flagship conference of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) and is the premier venue for showcasing research in signal processing and related areas. This year’s conference was attended by about 2000 participants.

This year's ICASSP received 2855 submissions, including those invited for 10 special sessions on emerging signal processing topics of high interests to the community.

The Steering Committee of the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) invites proposals to host the 2011 and 2012 conference editions. With typically around 1000 submissions and 500 participants each year, ICME has been the flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society organizes approximately twenty conferences, symposia and workshops each year. The Conference Board of the Society, chaired by SPS Vice President for Conferences, V. John Mathews, oversees all aspects of the conferences. The Board is currently engaged in an in-depth study of how to best enhance the quality, access and services for Society conferences. Learn more about the vision and new initiatives on Society conferences from his in-depth article.
