News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

Society News

20 May 2013 was a key event in the calendar of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). This year Vince Poor, distinguished member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and Dean of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Princeton, was inducted as a Corresponding Fellow of the RSE, for his distinguished contributions to communication theory, signal processing and allied fields. The election to the Fellowship also recognised his contributions to electrical engineering education through his celebrated teaching and mentoring.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the third time in 2014. Nominations must be received no later than 15 October 2013.

You may now sign up for automatic renewal of your IEEE membership. The option, available for the 2014 membership year, includes automatic renewal of your Society memberships and subscriptions to products and services.

If you sign up for it, benefits such as IEEE Spectrum and The Institute, any subscription to the IEEE Xplore digital library, access to the IEEE.org e-mail alias, life insurance coverage, and other member services won’t be interrupted.

MGA would like to thank everyone for submitting their officer, meeting, and financial reports to IEEE in a timely manner.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society invites nominations for the 2014 Class of SPS Distinguished Lecturers (DLs). The deadline for nominations is 31 May 2013.

Nominations are due 1 July 2013 for the 2014 IEEE Medals and Recognitions.

IEEE Medals are the highest recognition within the IEEE awards hierarchy, with the prestigious IEEE Medal of Honor as the premier award. IEEE Medals embrace broad and significant contributions within the technical fields of interest of IEEE.

The SPS Awards Board is now accepting nominations for 2013 major SPS awards, including the Society Award, the Technical Achievement Award, the Education Award, and the Meritorious Service Award. The Society also recognizes outstanding publications in SPS journals and magazines through the Best Paper Award, Young Author Best Paper Award, Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award, Best Column Award and the new Signal Processing Letters Best Paper Award.
