The Computational Medicine Lab (CML) at the New York University’s Biomedical Engineering Department has Ph.D. and M.S. openings for highly motivated and creative prospective Ph.D. and M.S. students with applied mathematics, signal processing, and/or control theory backgrounds to develop mathematical algorithms for biomedical engineering applications with a focus on human subject research. The Ph.D. and M.S. students will be working on the MINDWATCH project, which is supported by an NSF CAREER Award and is based on the on-going research that was featured by MIT Technology Review’s global list of 35 Innovators under 35. The Fall 2022 application deadline is December 1st, 2021. The statement of purpose/personal statement should mention that the prospective student is interested in joining CML/Faghih lab.
Please note after 5 wonderful years at the University of Houston ECE, CML will be relocating to NYU in Spring 2022. CML mainly focuses on designing control, optimization, estimation, signal processing, and machine learning algorithms for biomedical and neural engineering applications. The ideal Ph.D. candidate has obtained their B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical, mechanical or biomedical engineering, or related fields (e.g., computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, etc.) focusing on control theory and/or signal processing and/or machine learning. The projects involve algorithm design and validation in real-time experiments with human recordings.
