Postdoc - Prosthesis with Electronic Sensor Skin: Data Processing, Stimulation, System Integration

There is an open position for a highly motivated and skilled engineer with a successfully completed PhD at the BME Lab of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH-TI) in Switzerland.

Overall project: This is a cutting-edge research project financed by nano-tera.ch (SNF). Our partners at CSEM and EPFL will embed miniature sensors in a flexible material to create an artificial skin for tactile prosthetic applications. Further information can be found online via http://www.nano-tera.ch/projects/353.php.

Your task: Together with a PhD student, two master's students, and our partners at CSEM and EPFL, you will design, build, and optimize a demonstrator with a commercially available hand and arm prosthesis that allows an amputee to feel touch. This includes work in the following areas: signal processing, sensor data fusion, miniaturization of electronics, stimulation (mechanical or electrical).

Profile: We are looking for an engineer with a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, electronics, signal processing, control engineering, microtechnology, or a related field.

Application deadline: April 15, 2014
