PhD and MSc Studentships in 6G Wireless Communications Systems

Applications are invited for PhD and MSc studentships in 6G wireless communications systems. These studentships are funded by the CNPq/CAPES research councils in Brazil. The topic of the study is open within the general area of wireless communications. Potential topics include but are not limited to:

- Multiple-antenna systems
- Intelligent reflective surfaces
- Joint sensing and communications
- Machine learning for communications
- Channel coding/decoding: LDPC and Polar codes
- Resource allocation, network slicing, optimization

Deadline for application: 5th November 2023
Start date: early March 2024

This is an exciting international opportunity for a candidate with (or expecting) an BEng (required for MSc applications), MEng or MSc (required for PhD applications) with First Class Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related areas. Among the key technical disciplines are an excellent level of mathematics, development of algorithms and design of wireless communications systems. The successful candidate will be based at PUC-Rio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will colaborate and visit international partners, and is expected to attend international conferences.

The studentships are open to everyone, cover the tuition fees, and give a stipend of about US$ 400 (MSc) or US$ 800 (PhD) per month for 4 years. Additional funding might be available with industrial projects and requires extra 4-6 hours per week.
