Project
A PhD or Postdoctoral research position is available in the KU Leuven, Electrical Engineering Department (ESAT), STADIUS Center for Dynamical Systems, Signal Processing and Data Analytics, in the frame of a research project on the design of integrated and distributed digital signal processing algorithms for audio and speech communication devices.
Research will be focused on digital signal processing (DSP) functions such as signal enhancement, acoustic echo and feedback cancellation, dereverberation, active noise control, etc. Whereas such DSP functions are traditionally developed and analysed in isolation, a generic holistic approach will be developed, integrating the individual DSP functions in a common acoustic control problem statement and solution strategy. Representative use cases will also be developed, focusing on hearing instruments technology, and public address and interactive virtual acoustics technology.
The research will be carried out in an international team of signal processing researchers at STADIUS. The standard duration of a PhD research project at KU Leuven is 4 years.
The STADIUS research division of the KU Leuven Electrical Engineering Department (ESAT) joins over 100 researchers. One subgroup within STADIUS (20 researchers supervised by Prof. Marc Moonen and Prof. Toon van Waterschoot) performs research on digital signal processing with application to speech and audio processing and digital communications.
