Post Doc position: Integrating Models of Vision, Knowledge and Language
=======================================================================
(computer science, computational linguistics, physics or similar)
Statistical models of natural language so far have only considered the preceding words as a context. We would now like to generalize this to include also knowledge from images or data bases. To this end, suitable neural network architectures will be explored and their properties analysed. Alternative machine learning based approaches will also be considered.
Requirements: The successful candidate should have a master's degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Physics or a related discipline, with a strong background in mathematics and programming. A good command of English is mandatory as English is the working language of the department.
The position is full time on the German E13 scale and subject to the final approval by the funding agency. Starting dates are anticipated to be between July and October, 2018. The appointment will be for up to four years.
About the department: The department of Language Science and Technology is one of the leading departments in the speech and language area in Europe. The flagship project at the moment is the CRC on Information Density and Linguistic Encoding. Furthermore, the department is involved in the cluster of excellence Multimodal Computing and Interaction. It also runs a significant number of European and nationally funded projects. In total it has seven faculty and around 50 postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
