This competition is about developing the best possible indoor localization and tracking app for Android smartphones. The competition participants are required to use the extensive Android smartphone data repository developed by NIST to develop their apps and have their apps’ performance evaluated through the PerfLoc Performance Evaluation Portal.

Overview
The Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has allocated $20,000 for Member-Driven Initiatives for the 2017 calendar year. The funding is open to all Signal Processing Society members, Chapters and Committees. However, all proposals must include the involvement of the local Chapter to encourage geographic development. Allocation of funds will be competitive.

The 5th IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP) will be held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on November 14-16, 2017. GlobalSIP, as a new flagship IEEE Signal Processing Society conference, focuses on signal and information processing with an emphasis on up-and-coming signal processing themes.

The Marconi Society is a foundation that promotes awareness of major innovations in communication theory, technology and applications with particular attention to understanding how they change and benefit society. The Marconi Society honors the spirit of Guglielmo Marconi — scientist, engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur.
