The Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee for each Technical Committee is currently seeking nominations for new Members, as well as the Vice Chair position for some Technical Committees. Nominations for both positions should be submitted directly to each Technical Committee’s Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee.

The election of Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2014 through 31 December 2016) and the Directors-at-Large for Regions 7 & 9 and Region 10 (term 1 January 2014 through 31 December 2015) of the IEEE SPS Board of Governors is now open. Ballots must be received at IEEE no later than 30 August 2013 in order to be counted.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) appointed José M. F. Moura (Carnegie Mellon University) to serve as 2014-2016 SPS Awards Board Chair. He succeeds John Treichler (Raytheon Applied Signal Technology), who has held the post since January 2011.
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 technical committees that support a broad selection of signal processing related activities defined by the scope of the Society. Technical Committees are actively involved in awards, conferences, publications, and educational activities, and provide technical advice to the Society's leadership.
The Multimedia Signal Processing Technical Committee (MMSP TC) promotes the advancement of multimedia signal processing technology with special emphasis on the interaction, coordination, synchronization, and joint processing of multimedia and multi-modality signals.
IFS was well represented at ICASSP in Vancouver. The IEEE International Workshop on Information Forensics and Security (WIFS) will be held in Guangzhou, China. The IEEE Challenge on Image Forensics has started.
