DARPA has officially announced a new DARPA Challenge, the Spectrum Challenge - a new competition to design effective software-defined radio protocols using USRPs.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society Tainan Chapter has been selected as the second recipient of the 2012 Chapter of the Year Award!
In recent years, signal processing applications that deal with user-related data have aroused privacy concerns. For instance, face recognition and personalized recommendations rely on privacy-sensitive information that can be abused if the signal processing is executed on remote servers or in the cloud.
IEEE has announced the 2013 recipients of the IEEE Medals, Prize Paper, Service Awards, Corporate Recognitions and/or Honorary Membership awards.
The following six Signal Processing Society members received IEEE Awards:
IEEE FOUNDERS MEDAL to LEO BERANEK (LFIEEE) – Founder (retired), Bolt, Beranek, and Newman, Boston, MA, USA
Cooperation is known as an effective strategy in nature to achieve individual or common goals and is a key element in evolution for optimization, as Darwin pointed out in his famous work. Cooperation among weaker individuals (such as hyenas) has the potential to outperform stronger individuals (cheetahs) agnostic to the principle of cooperation.
Each issue of the “Reader’s Choice” column in IEEE Signal Processing Magazine contains a list of articles published by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) that ranked among the top 100 most downloaded IEEE Xplore articles.
Marcos Efren Bolanos (Michigan State University), “Signal processing inspired graph theoretic methods for understanding functional connectivity of the brain”, Advisor: Prof. Selin Aviyente (2012)
Raytheon's Electrical Design Directorate (EDD) provides engineering design, integration and production to core radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system competencies including process and control, integration and test, power systems, torpedo and sonar electronics, receivers and exciters, antennas and microwave subassemblies.
Intelligent Fusion Technology (IFT) is a Research and Development (R&D) company focused on information fusion technologies from basic research to industry transition and product development and support. IFT is located in Germantown, Maryland. We are working on modeling, control, communication, signal/image/text processing, security, autonomy, and decision making in networked systems.
The BioImaging and Signal Processing Technical Committee (BISP TC) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (IEEE-SPS) promotes activities within the broad technical areas of biomedical and biological signal and image processing.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) announced the 2013 Class of Distinguished Lecturers. Five colleagues were honored and they are: Sergio Barbarossa (Sapienza University of Rome); Mauro Barni (University of Siena); Robert Heath Jr. (University of Texas at Austin); V. John Mathews (University of Utah ); and Mari Ostendorf (University of Washington).
Nominations are due 31 January 2013 for the 2014 IEEE Technical Field Awards (TFA).
