The IEEE Signal Processing Society would like to express our concern and support for the members of our global community and all affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we work together to navigate these unforeseen and uncertain circumstances. We hope that you, your families, and your communities are safe!
In an effort to continue engaging and educating signal processing students, early stage researchers, and industry practitioners, the Society is still accepting proposals for fully virtual Seasonal Schools.

Typically either Cycle 1 (formerly "summer") or Cycle 2 (formerly "winter") schools with a primary objective in membership development for students interested in signal processing, as well as organizing opportunities to network with professors and established practitioners and engage in hands-on tutorials in signal processing.
Cycle 1 schools are held from April to September, while Cycle 2 schools are held from October to March. Seasonal call for proposals will be sent to all SPS members and posted to the SPS website on the Call for Proposals page.
Additional objectives of the seasonal schools program include:
The objective of the Technical Pre-Approved Seasonal Schools Program is to signify high quality programs, which in turn will help increase the Society’s visibility and membership development of students overall. The Technical Pre-Approved Seasonal Schools Program is only open to SPS Certified Chapters. The Certified Chapter must have supported successfully at least two financially and/or technically sponsored SPS seasonal schools during the last three years. The prior seasonal school editions must have exhibited the following set of requirements to be considered for the Technical Pre-Approved Seasonal Schools Program, which are: financially sound schools, high quality technical programs, membership development activities, as well as positive feedback from attendees.
To apply for this program, the chapter should send an email to sps-mdi@ieee.org to express their interest in the program and complete the online application form. The Membership Board will review and evaluate the submitted application.
If the requirements are met, then an Agreement with the Society can be signed that will allow Technical sponsorship to Technical Pre-Approved Seasonal Schools organized by the Certified Chapter for the following three years. If the Technical Pre-Approved Seasonal School is seeking financial support, they will need to apply for support through the regular Seasonal Schools call for proposal process.
