Our Fall Flagship Event: A Story of Past Accomplishments and Proposed Innovations

By:
Kostas Plataniotis

I am writing this short note as I am about to board a plane to Abu Dhabi to join those of you who are attending the 2024 edition of the International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP 2024). The team organizing ICIP 2024 has put together an outstanding technical program that includes world-class plenary speakers discussing research and industrial trends. The program also features technical sessions highlighting the latest research developments, insightful tutorials, and industry-focused panels and workshops.

I have consistently attended ICIP and can attest to its significance, increased participation, and great value to the IEEE Signal Processing Society and to our profession. Since its inception in 1994, ICIP has been a platform where innovation, cutting-edge research, networking, and education converge. Attending ICIP 2024 will allow you to connect with peers, explore new ideas and collaboration opportunities, and enhance your skills and knowledge, making it a valuable investment in your professional development.

To celebrate our past achievements and generate ideas for the future, our front office has developed a visual summary that illustrates ICIP’s three decades of innovation and outlines future activities. I hope that you find it informative and that it inspires you to share your thoughts and suggestions about the future of our fall flagship event. Your feedback and recommendations are not just welcome but essential to the Society and future ICIP organizing committees. Your input can shape the future of ICIP. Thank you for reading, and a special thanks to Alisa and Caroline for their efforts in putting together such an outstanding summary.
