Video is a booming industry: content is embedded on many Web sites, delivered over the Internet, and streamed to mobile devices. Content providers own vast quantities of studio-quality video (i.e., produced to the quality standards of a television studio), but legal contracts between actors, producers, and owners limit how and where others can use such video.
Innovative audio and acoustics research projects are opening the door to new applications, in fields ranging from structure analysis to pharmaceutical production to medical analytics, which seemed improbable only a few years ago.
The Dynamic Geometry Competition is an international competition organized by the IEEE Multimedia Signal Processing Technical Committee (MMSP-TC), and sponsored by the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
20 May 2013 was a key event in the calendar of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). This year Vince Poor, distinguished member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and Dean of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Princeton, was inducted as a Corresponding Fellow of the RSE, for his distinguished contributions to communication theory, signal processing and allied fields. The election to the Fellowship also recognised his contributions to electrical engineering education through his celebrated teaching and mentoring.
The Summer School will be organized by the University of Zagreb from June 8-14, 2013 in wonderful and unique Dubrovnik, Croatia, also known as "The Pearl of the Adriatic".
In its heyday, it was a bustling, flourishing city protected by its mighty defensive walls. This unique medieval setting has been preserved and was inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
The Summer 2013 edition of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee’s Newsletter is now online. It includes a number of announcements from the TC chair, as well as a number of articles collated by the editorial boarded.
The Sensor Array and Multichannel Technical Committee (SAM TC) welcomes new members, and several SAM members and nominees received IEEE Signal Processing Society awards. CAMSAP2013 will be held at the Radisson Blu Resort in Saint Martin on December 15-18, 2013.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the third time in 2014. Nominations must be received no later than 15 October 2013.
You may now sign up for automatic renewal of your IEEE membership. The option, available for the 2014 membership year, includes automatic renewal of your Society memberships and subscriptions to products and services.
If you sign up for it, benefits such as IEEE Spectrum and The Institute, any subscription to the IEEE Xplore digital library, access to the IEEE.org e-mail alias, life insurance coverage, and other member services won’t be interrupted.
