The Latest News, Articles, and Events in Signal Processing

The IEEE SPS is now inviting proposals to host the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) in 2017.

This Call for Proposal is distributed on behalf of IEEE Signal Processing Society Conference Board for the 42nd IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP) to be held in March or April of 2017.

Instituto Tecnológico de Metropolitano (ITM) and Universidad de Antioquia are organizing a conference in Medellin, Colombia: the XVII version of the digital signal processing, image processing and computer vision conference that will be held in September 12, 13 and 14, 2012. This event is sponsored by the IEEE Colombia’s chapter of Digital Signal Processing.

Submissions to the special issue in the IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING should be original. Submissions to the special issue in the IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING MAGAZINE should have significant tutorial value.

We invite you to attend the International Conference on Image
Processing (ICIP), to be held on September 30 - October 3 at the
Disney Coronado Springs Resort, Orlando, Florida, U.S.A.

At its 31 March 2012 meeting, the Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society passed amendments to the Society’s Constitution document. Procedures require approval by the IEEE Technical Activities Board, which has already been secured, followed by a 30-day period for member comment. The amendment is considered approved unless one-half percent or more of the Society’s membership objects, in writing, within 30 days of publication.

Two publications of the IEEE Signal Processing Society will welcome new Editors-in-Chief beginning January 2013 for the term that will run until 31 December 2015.

These new Editors-in-Chief are:

IEEE recently launched a news page and blog with the tagline “Brightening the future, improving the world” that promotes the value of IEEE Societies and communities. Articles cover humanitarian, educational, and technological achievements and initiatives, including those of the IEEE Humanitarian Technology Challenge.

The school will be hosted in National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. APPLICATION DEADLINE: 11 Jun 2012.

The Nominate a Senior Member Initiative was designed to encourage all IEEE Societies and Sections to become actively involved in promoting the Senior Member grade.

This initiative aims to:

* encourage grade advancement in IEEE;
* simplify the application process;
* offer financial incentives for approved Senior Member applications;
* offer increased benefits for Senior membership.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Director-Membership Services. The term for the Director position will be three years (1 January 2013-31 December 2015).

We are seeking one highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in computational neuroscience and signal processing to be part of an interdisciplinary research alliance working to develop computational models and data analysis methods in support of a research program in neuroergonomics (‘the study of the brain and body at work’).

The Wireless Innovation Laboratory (http://www.wireless.wpi.edu/) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position starting on 1st October 2012 to lead research efforts in the area of spectrally agile waveform design and development for dynamic spectrum access (DSA) networks.

IEEE-USA is excited to announce a new service for consultants. We are now offering IEEE members a chance to be a part of the Alliance of IEEE Consultants Networks (AICN). Yes, consultants can now be a part of the AICN by joining the IEEE-USA Consultants Database.
